Your Options for Level 2, & DC Fast Chargers
Level 2 Chargers
Level 2 chargers require a 240-volt outlet and a dedicated breaker, typically 40A or higher. By achieving a full charge in 3-6 hours, they are significantly faster than Level 1 chargers that come with most EV’s, which require 24 to 36 hours to fully charge. Level 2 chargers are the most common chargers for multifamily and mixed-use buildings.
DC Fast Chargers
DC fast chargers require a 480-volt outlet and a dedicated breaker, typically 150A or higher. It is the fastest type of EV charger, achieving a full charge in 15-20 minutes in most cases.. DC fast chargers are typically much more expensive than Level 2 chargers, since they require additional electrical infrastructure, which drives up the installation costs.. They are typically found in large scale commercial & retail settings, and not very common at multifamily buildings.
